A Healthy Island Ecosystem

IMG_5128.HEIC

In the face of the current climate emergency, we need bold action to ensure that our keiki inherit a liveable planet. Here in Hawaiʻi, we already feel the impacts of climate change, and this crisis is exacerbated by environmental contamination and irresponsible land and water policies. Tina believes that place-based solutions to our biggest environmental challenges will come from the wealth of Indigenous knowledge that we hold here in Hawaiʻi. She will champion policies that strengthen protections for our precious island ecosystem and support a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels.

Tina has a strong track record of fighting for environmental justice. As a member of the Oʻahu Water Protectors, she worked to ensure the shutdown of the Red Hill Fuel Facility. As a board member of Hawaiʻi Peace and Justice she worked to develop a youth organizing program to empower youth to engage in environmental justice issues. She has also worked closely with advocates to draft policies that monitor and reduce the use of harmful agrochemicals, incentivize regenerative agricultural practices, and support a sustainable local food system.
